She was born to Colonel Lawrence E. Roberts and Lucimarian.
She was raised in Pass Christian, Mississippi and she was a very good fan and player of basketball and tennis among others.
Robin Roberts is the youngest of four children, namely; Sally-Ann, Lawrence, Jr. (alias Butch) and Dorothy. Her father was also a pilot with the Tuskegee Airmen.

Robin Roberts’ journalism career started in 1983, when she played the role as a sports anchor and reporter for WDAM-TV, situated in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
She moved to WLOX-TV in 1984 and then to WSMV-TV in Nashville, Tennessee, where she became a sports anchor.
Robin Roberts was a sports anchor and reporter for the WAGA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1998 to 1990. She was also hosting a radio show on V-103.
She worked with ESPN as a sportscaster in February 1990 and left there in 2005.
In 2005, Robin Roberts earned a promotion to be the co-anchor of the Good Morning America show. Roberts then became the co-anchor of GMA in 2009 together with George Stephenanopoulos.
In 2012, she was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, joining the Hall’s class of 2012. There, she made outstanding contributions as an avid of basketball and broadcasting at the same time.
